Opportunities and Challenges for Interconnected Multi-Domain Science

Hybrid Workshop

When

August 8th & 9th

Where

Oak Ridge, TN

Oak Ridge National Labs

Overview

Recent advances in computational resources, automation/autonomy, and artificial intelligence (AI) is leading to a growing need for a common science ecosystem that seamlessly spans across multiple science domains with distributed computational and experimental facilities. The need for a science ecosystem was noted in multiple DOE reports including the AI for Science report and the Computational Facilities Research Workshop report. The primary goal of this workshop is to bring together a range of experts to discuss the current state of science ecosystems as well as outline future opportunities and challenges with creating a common environment that interconnects future distributed smart laboratories across the DOE.

Meeting Format

Opportunities and Challenges for Interconnected Multi-Domain Science Workshop will be a hybrid workshop with a combination of in-person attendees at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as virtual attendees on August 8-9, 2022.  The workshop will include
